KPI dictionary

What each marketing dashboard metric means

Marketing spend

The measured cost assigned to each channel for the period. Decide whether this includes media only or also platform, production and agency costs, then stay consistent.

Click-through rate (CTR)

Clicks divided by impressions, expressed as a percentage. CTR diagnoses how effectively an impression produces a visit, but it does not measure commercial quality.

Lead-to-customer and click-to-customer conversion

Lead-to-customer rate shows sales or qualification effectiveness. Click-to-customer rate connects channel traffic to customers. Diagnose both so a falling overall conversion rate is not incorrectly blamed on media.

Customer acquisition cost (CAC)

Spend divided by new customers. A valid CAC requires aligned dates, attribution rules and customer definitions. Compare it with gross profit or defensible lifetime value, not revenue alone.

Return on ad spend (ROAS)

Attributed revenue divided by channel spend. ROAS is useful for media optimization but should be read alongside margin, incrementality, new-customer mix and non-media costs.

A better weekly marketing review

  1. Start with outcomes: revenue, customers and contribution versus target.
  2. Diagnose drivers: volume, conversion, CAC and ROAS by channel.
  3. Add context: promotions, stock, tracking changes, seasonality and product releases.
  4. Decide actions: state the change, owner, deadline and expected effect.
  5. Close the loop: review whether last week's action produced the intended result.

Frequently asked questions

Which KPIs belong in a weekly marketing dashboard?

Include business outcomes, investment, funnel volume and efficiency: spend, impressions or reach, clicks, leads, customers, revenue, conversion rate, CAC and ROAS.

How is blended CAC calculated?

Total measured marketing spend divided by total new customers in the same reporting scope.

How often should the dashboard be updated?

Operational views may update daily. A weekly executive dashboard usually balances actionability with enough volume to avoid reacting to daily noise.

Where is the data saved?

Nothing is sent to a server. If you choose “Save on this device,” the current fields are stored in your browser's local storage.
